Our Approach
What to Expect
-
Drills and practice plans developed to meet kids where they are at developmentally. GGH stresses skill acquisition and refinement, amidst game play and pressure situations.
-
Skills AND systems. We aren’t training danglers….we work with our players to build and refine skills and to deploy those in dynamic play situations.
-
Practices will emphasize repetition of basic and more advanced skills, will build iteratively and will look to gamify activities where possible. GGH is a competitive environment and that includes practices.
-
Our coaches are paid, GGH coaches. Coaches are assigned to a team and get to know the kids in order to deploy coaching that treats them as the individuals they are.
-
The AAA season is divided into two halves. The first half begins in late March and runs up through the end of May. The second half begins later in July and runs through the end of August. Practices, games and tournaments are spread across those timeframes. Summer sports participation (non-hockey!) are encouraged and we understand the realities of busy schedules.
-
We transact in respect like a currency in our program. Coaches to parents, to players and to each other. We expect our players to have respect for their teammates, their coaches, the referees and their opponents. We expect GGH parents to help us maintain this culture of respect in the stands, to each other, to their kids as well as opponents and referees.
